Thinking about contributing to our effort?

ECO-LABOR-ATION Nonprofit Corporation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and public charity.

As an organization run solely by volunteers, we are able to make every contribution go further. Our administrative expenses are kept to the bare minimum and we consider it a worthwhile challenge to design events & programs that can be shared with the public without fees. Nevertheless, our projects don't come together for free, so below we invite you to become a Supporter of ECO-LABOR-ATION and its On-Going Projects ; also included is our Current Needs List. We hope you share our belief that increasing public awareness and voluntary participation in ecologically-sustainable lifestyles is a worthwhile endeavor. If you choose to support us with a contribution, your donation is generally tax-deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code - You can even choose to be recognized on our Supporters webpage (completely optional ! we respect your privacy!).   We appreciate your support!

ECO-LABOR-ATION's Sustainable Gardening programs, such as the SEED-SAVERS LENDING LIBRARY, involve the public in the full-food-production-cycle ... from Planted-Seed to Harvested-Seed.  We also promote biodiversity and compassion in the food-production cycle as well as harvest-sharing and the development of public "edible" gardens in lieu of purely ornamental gardens.

ECO-LABOR-ATION's Natural Building programs, such as THE COB BENCH PROJECT, expose the public to construction techniques that use a high percentage of biodegradable or recycled materials and which use passive technologies such as rainwater harvesting or solar heating.  THE COB BENCH PROJECT places fanciful & sculptural relaxing benches, some with shade canopy or fire hearth, in public spaces to spark dialog and interest in earthen-construction techniques.

ECO-LABOR-ATION's Clean & Renewable Energy programs, such as the BREEZE Wind-Energy Mobile Interactive Exhibit, raise individual awareness of our energy consumption habits and demonstrate clean energy devices. Visitors will enjoy up-close & hands-on exploration of the inner-workings of renewable energy devices powered by the wind, sun or water.  Mobile exhibits will often be placed at school campuses, stadiums, plazas, or other large-gathering locations and may offer visitors the opportunity to recharge their portable devices while viewing.

Wood holds the harnessed energy of the sun, yet provides a fuel that can be used at all hours of the day regardless of cloud-cover.  Many Bio-Fuels use wood or plant-based materials and can be classified as ecologically-responsible when they are not produced by over-harvesting of local woods or plants AND they are paired with an efficient-burning stove. ECO-LABOR-ATION's Bio-Fuel Initiatives look to re-plant trees in over-harvested regions, offer training on Bio-Fuels that are produced from low-impact harvesting or farm residues, and help to replace inefficient cooking set-ups with cleaner-burning and fuel efficient cookers, such as the ROCKET TAMALE POT.

Are there other ways I can contribute? Are there other ways I can donate?

Sure!   and Thanks for Asking!

  • You may want to browse our Current Needs List below.
  • Also, some of your usual internet shopping or selling may generate a contribution to ECO-LABOR-ATION. For example, ECO-LABOR-ATION is currently enrolled in the eBay Giving Works program for nonprofits. You can browse auctions that are for the benefit of ECO-LABOR-ATION by clicking ECO-LABOR-ATION on eBay HERE.  You may also want to register your item for sale in the eBay Charitable Auctions category by agreeing to donate a portion of the sales price to ECO-LABOR-ATION.  Contact us if you have questions about purchasing or selling an item for the benefit of ECO-LABOR-ATION by clicking HERE.

CURRENT NEEDS LIST:

  • SEED-SAVERS LENDING LIBRARY is always in need of: Greenhouse materials such as framing components, plastic covers, irrigation tubing & timers, hoses, hand tools, timber, gravel, stone, pots, seed-sorting trays, cold-storage, seed packaging & labeling supplies, new seed/plant stock, bee-keeping equipment, postage and volunteers.  Plant-stock for scheduled "Edible Garden" installations are always welcome.  We also develop JOINT ad-VENTURES with nurseries and gardening clubs.
  • THE COB BENCH PROJECT accepts delivery or pledges of materials such as sand, clay, straw, lime, wood, timber [note: the foregoing items are accepted on a project-by-project basis], pigment powders, wheelbarrows, tarps, hand-tools, buckets, hoses, etc. and local volunteers. It is usually not feasible for us to stockpile soils far-in-advance of a project start date as that would require duplicate (heavy-vehicle) transportation effort.
  • The BIO-FUEL INITIATIVE is currently accepting huizache & mesquite seedlings for planting events in central Mexico; other seedlings may be considered on a regional basis if they are considered a native wood-fuel plant (such as oak, ash, etc) and appropriate for the soil and altitude at the designated planting location.
  • We occasionally accept new or used motors, batteries, wiring, soldering supplies, and photovoltaic cells for use in our renewable energy model-building projects.  Please contact us to discuss any materials you propose to donate.
  • We are currently developing the guidelines for a program that will attempt to connect your used items such as computers, printers, furniture, eye-glasses, etc. with families in-need. Please watch our News page for details on the program launch.
